Quay Speakers
I really enjoyed my visit to Quay Speakers a couple weeks ago. Year after year Quay Speakers ranks as 1 of the highest scores for DCP points in the Division. Their meetings are very well organized and the members are all keen on moving forward with their educational goals.
An interesting element that Quay Speakers have at the beginning of their meeting is the Membership Chair (or another assigned person) shares who is absent at this particular meeting and why they are absent. I loved that! It really showed that people cared if you were not there and that Club members want to know if you were OK.
Stop in and visit Quay Speakers at the Lonsdale Quay on Tuesday nights!

Visit to Calgary
While in Cowtown last week I took an hour and a half out of my other duties to visit a Toastmasters Club - Miracles Toastmasters.
An interesting element that they have in their meetings is an "Outvocator". They start with and Invocation and end with an Outvocation. I really enjoyed going home with another little piece of inspiration to tide me over for the week.
Another component that I particularly liked about their meeting (besides the amazing members) was they scheduled in 15-30 seconds per person at the beginning of the meeting to introduce themselves and answer 1 question. The question that was asked the week I was there was - What was your favorite thing to do as a child. As I grew up in Calgary it was a timely question for me.
Marlene, Lera and Bob where especially welcoming to me and I really appreciated their friendliness and hospitality. If you are in Calgary stop by on Wednesday night and say "Hi."

Division H Humorous Speech Contest
The Competition on Sunday October 18th will be outstanding. We have five great contestants in both the Table Topics Competition and the Humorous Speech Competition. Georgiana Harrison has done a wonderful job on pulling together 13 Judges for this event. Over 1/2 of the judges have DTM's. There will be door prizes and great food as well! See you there!
